The Indian pair defeated their higher-ranked opponents 21-19, 21-17 in 39 minutes in the quarterfinals at the Nguyen Du Cultural Sports Club in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Indian pair entered the BWF Super 100 badminton competition after winning the India Chhattisgarh International Challenge 2022 last week.

Little distinguished the two squads prior to the first break. The Malaysians pushed up from the scores of 11-11 to create a three-point lead at 17-14. But the next nine points were won by N Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor, who made it 1-0.

The Indian duo trailed 11-10 at the half of the second game, which was another close match. Similar to the first game, they were able to win the match thanks to a string of consecutive points from N Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor.

In the semi-finals on Saturday, N Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor will compete against the Indonesian team of Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto, ranked 35th in the world. India's sole surviving opponent at the Vietnam Open are Reddy and Kapoor.

B Sai Praneeth, who won the bronze medal at the world championships, Anupama Upadhyaya, the junior world No. 2, and Thomas Cup champion Priyanshu Rajawat all lost their matches early in the competition.
