The RCMP released more information about the drowning in Peachland on Monday afternoon.

Const. RCMP spokesman Mike Della-Paolera told Castanet that a 57-year-old man from the Lower Mainland lost his life swimming at Peachlands Swim Bay shortly after 2 p.m.
"This is a sad time for this man's family and friends and the RCMP to mourn this unfortunate accident."
The man had been swimming with his friends and family on 6th Street and Beach Avenue when he jumped into the water alone but never reappeared.
"About 30 minutes passed before it was determined that he had disappeared, and after all the efforts of the victim's family and friends did not find the man, they contacted the lifeguard who conducted the search," Della-Paolera said.
The Coast Guard eventually found the man who brought him to the surface and immediately carried out rescue operations. EHS was present, but eventually the man could not be revived and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

More details about the sinking in Peachland on Monday afternoon surfaced.
The RCMP told Castanet that the drowning took place on Monday shortly after 2 p.m. and the victim swam with his family and friends.
The victim, identified as a man, jumped into the water and never reappeared. The body was found by a lifeguard on duty, who immediately initiated life-saving measures.
"EHS was present, but unfortunately the man did not survive. Currently, the BC Coroner Service has conducted an investigation. There is no suspicion of crime. RCMP provides victim services to family, friends and the Coast Guard," said RCMP spokesman Cst. Mike Della-Paolera.

Peachland Mayor Cindy Fortin has confirmed that someone drowned in Swim Bay in Peachland on Monday.It's very sad news that someone drowned in Swim Bay this afternoon," Fortin said in a Facebook post.
"Our deep and sincere condolences go out to the family. Please don't speculate about how it happened and let the experts do their job," Fortin said.
Castanet has contacted the RCMP for more information about the incident, and Fortin has provided this Staff Sergeant. Commenting on the incident, Duncan Dixon said: "I'm sure more details will come to light over time.
Swim Bay is located on Beach Ave. in Peachland.
